Description
Vivaque Giordano Longoni lies at 5,000 m a.s.l., on the Ishinca ascent route and the route between Cojup and Ishinca. It is on the shore of laguna Ishinca, surrounded by the imposing Ranrapalca and Ishinca peaks, offering a spectacular setting for a night in the high mountains.
To stay at the bivouac, you must collect the keys beforehand from Refugio Ishinca (generally between May and September). There are no staff at the bivouac, so you need to bring everything required for the night (e.g. food, gas, etc.).
The bivouac visit is an extension of the route to Refugio Ishinca. First, reach the refuge, then continue to the bivouac on an additional day. Technically, the entire route can be done in one day, but this is not an option for everyone. It requires excellent physical fitness and previous high-mountain experience, as it is a long and demanding day (15.6km | +1361 m | 6h30). Do not underestimate the difficulty or the effects of altitude.
To continue from the bivouac, we recommend returning along the same trail to the refuge to return the keys.
